For much of my life, I believed my scars were something I needed to overcome. Like many people, I carried wounds I didn't fully understand. Feelings of abandonment, rejection, heartbreak, and disappointment often clouded my emotional intelligence. I held onto the lingering belief that if I could just do more, give more, or be more, I would finally feel worthy of love, acceptance, and belonging. What I didn't realize was that true healing was never about becoming enough; it was about discovering that I always was. My scars did not make me broken; they made me resilient and were crucial to my personal growth. They became evidence of what I survived, what I learned, and ultimately, who I became, paving the way for healthier relationships.
As a Registered Nurse, health coach, and lifelong advocate for wellness, I have dedicated years to helping people heal physically. In my experience, I have witnessed resilience in hospital rooms and strength in the face of adversity, along with the incredible ability of the human body to recover and rebuild almost every day. While assisting others in their healing journeys, I have also navigated my own.
Life has presented its share of plot twists, from single motherhood and heartbreak to disappointment and questions surrounding identity and belonging. Starting over multiple times taught me that true success does not automatically heal emotional wounds. The deeper I delved into my own personal growth, the more I recognized that many struggles individuals face are not due to a lack of love. Instead, they stem from unhealed wounds, unhealthy patterns, and a misunderstanding of what healthy relationships truly require. Developing emotional intelligence has been crucial in addressing these challenges.
I wrote Scarred, Not Broken: Reclaiming Your Power and Purpose because I wanted others to understand that their story is not over. Pain may leave scars, but these scars are proof that healing has occurred. Our greatest challenges often shape our purpose and contribute to our personal growth.
I aimed to create something honest, hopeful, and empowering for anyone who has ever questioned their worth, their future, or their ability to start anew. By fostering emotional intelligence, we can build healthy relationships with ourselves and others. No matter what you've been through, you are more than the hardest chapter of your story.
As I continued studying emotional intelligence, communication, attachment, accountability, relationship dynamics, and personal growth, one truth became impossible to ignore:
Most people are taught how to attract love.
Very few are taught how to build healthy relationships.
We learn chemistry but not emotional safety.
Connection but not accountability.
Attraction but not consistency.
The 8 Healed Love Languages™ were created to help bridge that gap.
This framework focuses on the emotional skills that create healthy relationships: Safety, Accountability, Consistency, Reciprocity, Sacred Communication, Peace & Clarity, Alignment & Integrity, and Devotion & Service.
Because healthy relationships aren't built on chemistry alone.
They're built on emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and the willingness to heal.
Today, my mission is simple:
To help people heal the wounds that keep them stuck, strengthen the emotional intelligence that fosters healthy relationships, and build lives rooted in purpose, authenticity, and emotional well-being.
Through books, podcasts, blogs, educational resources, and The Healed Love Languages™ movement, I hope to create a space where people feel seen, supported, challenged, and empowered to pursue personal growth.
Because healing changes everything.
It changes what we tolerate.
It changes what we choose.
And ultimately, it changes the way we love.
I'm Paula, BSN, RN, your nurse, your health coach, and your truth-telling big sister. I am the creator of The 8 Healed Love Languages™. I'm so glad you're here.
